FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Visual Namor stands at 5'8", his hair is black, undercut to a short buzz on both sides, and has a loose curl pattern when completely dry. He generally wears only skintight shorts and maybe a poncho, but shoes or shirts? Never, how dare you suggest such a thing. He also never leaves the house without at least several pounds of jewelry, starting with big jade earrings and septum bar, and growing in ostentatiousness from there. He can usually be found with multiple necklaces of beads, shells and pearls, along with a massive vibranium collar inlaid with jade carved into two snakes biting a huge pearl. He also usually has on vibranium arm bands, wrist bracers, belt and shin guards. He wears decorative little foot covers that are strapped onto the top of his feet that do not provide any coverage for the sole of his foot. Listen. That's fashion, baby.
Aural Short voice clip here! Namor speaks English with a noticeable Mexican accent (though his first language was Yucatec Mayan and not Spanish), his voice is fairly deep but he tends to speak softly and lightly unless he's shouting orders or giving speeches. His speech patterns aren't particularly casual, he can tend towards grandiose, but he does take up a friendly affect for the most part and sounds contemporary rather than like he's as old as he is.
Olfactory Namor smells like sea spray.
Bearing Namor moves and takes up space like he's very accustomed to being the most important person in any room. Which... he is. He has casual body language around his own people, but adopts a stubborn dignity and practiced arrogance around anyone else. He does not let anyone or anything rush him. When flying, he moves like he is swimming through the air, and he is incredibly precise as he is more accustomed to moving along both axis than he is to walking on solid ground.
IC PERMISSIONS
Physical Contact He will automatically allow casual physical contact from other sea-dwellers such as Talokanil (obviously) but this will extended even cross-canon to Atlanteans or sirens or mermaids or whatever else (idk... Spongebob casts wya?) From surface-dwellers, it will require building up some rapport (see: assumed CR section if you'd like to skip/handwave some steps!) before he's likely to allow any physical contact that's not violence.
Fighting Yes! See list of powers/weapons. I love to write action threads so I'm always open to threading out fights! But be warned that he's pretty overpowered and unapologetically vicious. Willing to work stuff out to even the playing field though, if you're interested!
Romance Yes!! See below for some quick shipping prefs, but I am absolutely a shipping fiend so hit me up any time for this and we can see where the CR takes us.
Psychic Namor's only obstacles to any sort of mental attack are just going to be the fact that he thinks in Yucatec Mayan—so if understanding languages is a barrier for your psychic that might be an issue—and the fact that he's more than 450 years old with an indominable will. There is a good chance he will react very poorly to any invasion of his mind, but he does not specifically have defenses against it and I'd love to play it out if you're down!
Content Warnings Colonization of Mesoamerica and all of the things that come along with that play a huge part in Namor's backstory, so any of it might come up in threads.
OOC PERMISSIONS
Backtagging Absolutely! The hours I keep mean that I tag at times most people aren't around to boomerang, so backtagging is my bread and butter. If we have a few threads going at once I might drop the oldest ones but otherwise, I'm good to keep one going forever.
Availability I am in the US/Central time zone, but on third shift, so my tagging times are generally early morning and my nights off are Friday/Saturday. I still try to tag every thread at least once a day, but there might be some days when I can't get to my inbox, depending on how busy it is at work.
Fourthwalling I'd rather not play direct conversations about Namor being fictional, but I don't mind characters for whom it would be in character (Deadpool, She-Hulk, etc) making the sort of off the cuff remarks they'd make in canon in our threads.
Tagging Style Generally I prefer prose and will usually start non-texting threads in prose, but I'll match whatever a thread starts as when I reply.
Assumed CR I am extremely down for assumed CR! Both with other MCUs since he's super disconnected from anything in the universe outside of Wakanda right now, or Namor could even slot super easily into other canons with existing underwater kingdoms if you want to blend universes, or if you just want help brainstorming how to AU a non-aquatic character into Talokan/figuring out how our characters would mesh for the purposes of this, toss me a PM! I am perfectly comfortable AUing Namor into other settings, or just some nebulous jamjar flavored place to start assuming CR works too.
SHIPPING
• I'm open to anything! M/F, M/M, M/Other, poly ships of any combo, etc.
• I've watched most things in the MCU, willing to try ships with basically any (adult) character haha
• I've also played 616!Namor before! (Though it was a long time ago, admittedly.) Would love to bounce off comics characters, whether in a jamjar situation or a figuring out how to blend the canons situation.
• I love crosscanon and ocs too! As noted above in Assumed CR, I'm always willing to smash canons together for a little AU action.
LOOKING FOR
• Other underwater characters! Atlanteans, sirens, mermaids, etc etc. Especially large soft spot for DCEU!Aquaman characters.
• Superheroes or others who will stop him from trying to burn down the whole surface world. Or villains to team up with tbh.
• Other rulers. Namor is going to have the easiest time connecting with other people who Get It RE: being responsible for an entire nation. Also, political marriage AUs?? Obviously peak.
• Other supernaturally old characters would be fun! (Namor is about 451 at current canonpoint.)
NOT LOOKING FOR
• Namor is unlikely to be attracted to or pursue characters much younger than 30.
• I'm not interested in playing out noncon in any capacity with this character.
• Not looking to engage with either Namor/Sue Storm or Namor/Shuri at this time.

Elevator Pitch
The fuck around and find out king in hoochie daddy shorts. The fish man (thanks, M'Baku.) Insert pun about the drip here. Do not let this man serenade you, or you will drown. Charming on the surface but extremely vicious just underneath. If you want the smoke, he's always willing to bring it.

DESIGNING TALOKAN
Powers/Abilities
Talokanil Physiology
Namor is able to breathe underwater by absorbing oxygen through his skin. His body is also durable enough to withstand the pressure at the bottom of the Atlantic ocean, and his skin can only be pierced by Vibranium or extreme force.
Enhanced Physiology
Due to mutations, Namor is capable of breathing on land without the technological aids required by other Talokanil. He also posses significantly more speed, agility and strength than the rest of his people. (His strength is on par with the Hulk I guess? He did take out 5 Wakanda warplanes at once with a spear and a can-do attitude, so. 🤷🏽) He ages very, very slowly—he is more than 450 years old at the current canonpoint.
Rapid Regeneration
Namor can heal almost any wound received by submerging in water.
Flight
Namor has a pair of wings on his ankles that allows him to fly fast enough to dodge fire from Wakandan aircraft. Gifs of how he looks in flight here!
Siren Voice
The Talokanil can sing a siren song which puts humans in a trance and causes them to jump into the ocean (or whatever body of water the song is coming from.) They also use similar vocalizations to command aquatic creatures, seen when they use orca and whales as troop transports. Both the song and the communication with sea animals can be rendered powerless by loud enough noise drowning it out, and wearing earplugs can allow someone to ignore the effects of the song.
Multilinguistic
Namor can speak multiple languages. The ones we see him using onscreen are Yucatec Maya, Spanish and English, but he likely has a pretty good grasp on any language spoken by nations with any sort of major naval presence or fishing industry over the last 3-4 centuries.
--
Weaknesses:
Namor is strongest in or near the water. Dehydrating him takes him back to the level of baseline Talokanil, which is still stronger, faster and more durable than human but not so much as to make him nearly as impossible to combat for a skilled fighter. Extended periods of dehydration especially under extreme circumstances (such as being stranded in a desert or set on fire) will render him debilitatingly weak and delirious, and eventually kill him.
Arsenal
Spear
A spear made of raw vibranium, capable of cutting through other vibranium and deflecting concentrated energy attacks
Water Bombs
A grenade-sized cube filled with a genuinely impossible volume of water. When thrown to break open, it releases a massive amount of oceanwater, enough to sink ships and flood buildings.
Jewlery
Namor wanders around in an insane amount of vibranium jewelry. It would take a hell of a smooth talker to get him to part with any of it, but if he does it could theoretically be worked into powerful weapons like the spear or Cap's shield.
History
In 1571, Spanish Conquistadors brought an epidemic of Smallpox to Zama village in the Yucatán Peninsula, where Namor's mother lived. Namor's mother consumed medicine created with a plant grown in waters laced with vibranium while pregnant with him, which allowed her and others of her people who drank the medicine to survive underwater and granted them the enhanced Talokanil physiology that allowed them to adapt to life at the bottom of the ocean.
Namor was the first of his people to be born underwater, and was granted immense reverence for it, called K'uk'ulkan (the feather serpent god) and made king of the new nation. This reverence only grew when it became clear that he was aging much slower than anyone born before or after him due to his mutation: he was still a child when his mother (who had been a young woman when she had him) died of old age.
Because of his mother's request to be buried on the land of her former home, Namor witnessed the worst of the Spanish colonization of Mesoamerica first-hand, and it traumatized him deeply. Since then he has had extreme isolationist policies for his people, hiding away at the bottom of oceans and moving whenever human technology allowed the surface to inch closer and closer to discovering the kingdom of Talokan. He trained his people as warriors to prepare them for what he saw as the inevitability of conflict with the surface world over their wealth of vibranium resources, and at the beginning of the movie he clearly believed that time to have come when the United States government displayed the ability to detect vibranium in response to Wakanda revealing itself and then refusing to trade.
Anyway, now he wants to raze the entire surface world before they get a chance to get anywhere near his people, and he's very much not above mansplaining, manipulating and malewife manslaughtering his way to that eventual goal. (Sorry, Shuri.)
